So I called the clinic today to make an appointment to see a doctor tomorrow. When I told her I was only here in Canada less than 2 months, she told me that it was going to be an expensive visit (you qualify for free healthcare after living here for 3 months).
"Expensive, huh?"
"Oh, yeah - it's gonna be $60. I'm so sorry, sir."
And I laughed, and laughed, and laughed. $60 is an expensive doctor visit? Wow.
Well, Lisa went last week to get a refill on a prescription. They just billed her the $60. When she went to the pharmacy, the girl behind the counter was very apologetic when she told Lisa that, without having Canadian Healthcare Insurance yet, her scrip was going to be a lot of money.
"How much? I need it."
"$40"
And she laughed and laughed and laughed.
So stay tuned for my report on my first day going through the notorious (be that good or bad) socialist Canadian Health Care System!
Wait, you mean that we are getting in right away? You don't have to wait in a long line with the other poor, sick people (I'm imagining a Soviet-era bread line in Bulgaria)? Is it possible that the repugs are WRONG? Imagine my surprise!
