Today is a holiday - British Columbia Day, to be precise.
This morning, there was no newspaper at my front door.
Apparently, unlike most cities, the news takes a day off in Kelowna.
Today, nothing will happen.
And it seems nothing happened yesterday to report, either.
Debt ceiling agreement? Nah, not important.
Biggest festival on the lakefront here all year over the weekend? Nah, not important.
I didn't realize that Kelowna was the Mayberry of British Columbia.
I know it's not important that there is no paper today, but it does strike me as odd. It's been my experience that the news never takes a holiday. But, I guess if John Stewart can take a week off now and then, so too can the Kelowna Daily Courier take a day or two off during the year.
And just as there is no news at my doorstep today, there is no news for me to report aboot Canada today. I've been under the weather, so I have not been venturing oot much. Sorry. But I will share whatever oddities cross my path - I promise.
.
There usually isn't much going on between July 15 and August 15, at least in Ontario where I live. We enjoy being outside without a winter jacket, walking without sinking into snow. You know, summer.
